With wide experience in Sustainable Tourism, Simon Holt Marketing Services was pleased to assist Merseytravel to research and prepare promotional material encouraging access to the countryside and tourist destinations using public transport. A significant and growing market to be targeted is recreational cycling.

'Rideabout', developed for Merseytravel by Simon Holt Marketing Services, is an easy to use introduction to getting out and about on the County's network of low trafficked and traffic free cycle routes, it promotes the use of the local trains to gain easy access to the routes. Aimed both at families and individuals, the range of rides featured in the guide booklet are suitable for the casual cycling market.

The 'Rideabout' booklet was produced to complement a series of 'Walkabout' booklets focusing on family rambling opportunities within Merseyside, linked into easy access by bus, train and ferry. These promotions, aligned with Merseytravel's progressive marketing policies, have already successfully developed the recreational use of the public transport network throughout the area.

New 'Rideabout 2' booklets

Simon Holt Marketing Services also designed Merseytravel's 'Rideabout 2' publication, a 16 page full colour A5 booklet which provides details about five more easy cycle rides from Merseyrail Stations. The routes were devised by the Merseyside Cycling Campaign and Merseyside Travelwise. This was the second of the Rideabout booklets produced by SHMS.
